Microsoft Project 2016 Professional helps managers to create plans, allocate resources between activities, monitor processes, allocate budgets and analyse workflows, and allocate workload.
With Project 2016 Professional, you can create schedules based on activities and available resources. You can assign resources to different activities and the program calculates workloads and work-related costs from each activity down to the project level. Resources can be shared between projects from a common resource base. Each activity and resource can be assigned its own calendar, which defines the days and times when resources are available. To calculate resource costs, you can specify the cost of resources. Each resource can be assigned to multiple activities in multiple projects. When you assign resources to activities, Microsoft Project 2016 Professional calculates the cost of assignments.
The application assigns activities based on the availability of resources in the calendar. Resources can be defined in unlimited quantities, so the software cannot determine how much of a finished product can be produced from a given amount of resources. The management of processes in plants producing real products requires the use of additional software.
In Microsoft Project 2016 Professional, it is also possible to define different user levels who can access the data to a certain extent. The access to projects and views for different levels can be defined. Objects such as calendars, views, tables, filters and fields can be shared by all users.
